The last few weeks have been so busy! Easter already feels like it was months ago (although by some miracle there are still a couple of Easter eggs in our house!) and now it’s full steam ahead with wedding season!

Part of getting ready for a wedding includes organising what my daughter calls my ‘go-bag’! It’s just a small bag I take to every wedding with some essential items that take care of pretty much everything that might occur on the morning of a wedding and I know a lot of brides like to put something similar together. Most of these items you will probably have at home but if you are getting ready at a hotel or your venue then it might be worth popping them in your bag just in case.

Scissors- the most used item by far! There is always a rogue tag, a loose thread or a bow that needs dealing with.

A seam ripper- this is one that really helps with new clothes, especially suits. It can be used to open up the tailoring stitches such as those on men’s jacket pockets if scissors are too big.

Pins- safety pins and straight pins, they can fix everything from sporrans to lopsided buttonholes, I usually have a mini sewing kit but pins tend to be the most used items.

Toupee tape-this is a relatively recent addition to my bag but it has saved the day more than once, It’s great for dropped hems and slippery straps.

Nail file- not just for nails, they can also be used to add grip to slippery shoes.

Alcohol wipes- not just for cuts and dirty surfaces, they are also great for removing sticky residue left behind from labels.

A lighter or matches- With fewer people smoking, I now carry one, they are a big help for frayed ribbons and tags.

A crochet hook-this is the very best tool for all of those little buttons on wedding dresses

Plasters-especially the ones for blisters

A few other very self explanatory items:

Lint roller (especially for suits and dark clothes)

Mints

Tissues

A pen or a pencil

Hygiene supplies - wet wipes, deodorant etc

Small change

Phone charger
